WHY THE F*** did my tv turn red?

my JVC tv about 12 years old turned bright red while I was watching Basketball, can anyone explain why?

Answer:
The first suspect would be a K/G short of the red gun in the CRT , this type of short can sometimes be dislodged by tapping the neck of the CRT with the handle of a screw driver, in theory the short then drops off into the bottom of the glass neck of the CRT .
If that is not the case then you could have a open circuit load resister that feeds the Red cathode That would also turn the red full on.
That's your possible explanation , now all you need is to be capable of or get someone who is capable of effecting a repair.
Cheers Pete
cuz its 12 years old
sounds like a bad picture tube. don't bother with it
the electron gun in your tv is spoil.
Maybe it turned red from the language you use around it? 12 yrs. old = scrap heap. Time for a new one.
