I want to use a headphone on my tv or hi fi without the speaker cutting out is it possible?

I understand that it may be possible to hardwire a scart lead to include a headphone jack on a lead, looking for something already produced

Answer:
Buy a Sony TV - then it's an option as to wether the headphone will cause the speakers to cut out.

As for an off-the-shelf SCART - Headphones cable, I've not seen one myself and if the TV doesn't output on the Scart socket (a lot don't) then it wouldn't work anyway.

Doesn't the TV have any audio out/external speaker sockets - they may provide you with a better chance of this.
It is easy. Use the audio out jacks in the back of your device instead of the earphone jack in front. You may need a small compatibility device to connect to your headphone which is available at any electronic shop.
if there is no setting in the menu for this, then you have to wire the headphone to the speaker, so it is in effect another speaker !
