first is phillips second is magnavox im lookin at..which should i get

Answer:
All HDTV's have the ability to resize the picture. If you watch a 4:3 broadcast, by default, it will be distorted and stretched on the TV. Everyone will look short and fat. If you change the HDTV to 4:3 resize, then the image will be the correct proportion, but you will have black bars left and right.

Both of the TV's that you are looking at have this feature. The fancier feature will even have zoom features, so you can fill a 4:3 picture on a 16:9 TV by cropping the top and bottom.

I would choose the Phillips over the Magnavox. To be honest, I would not choose either of those TV's because both brands are low quality. Stick with Sony, LG, Panasonic, Samsung.
