I think my picture tube in my tv just blew but gave no warning it just went could it be something else?

Its about 5-6 yrs old, but not a great brand, does a picture tube just go like that , I thought it usually gave a bit of warning before going. We did have a big **** storm here today but it worked fine for a couple of hours after that. Thanks in advance and hugs from Australia to all.

Answer:
I highly doubt the picture tube. Probably something else blew. Do you still have sound? If so, then I would suspect something in the high voltage area that drives the picture tube has died. This a repair person would have to look at.

No sound or completely dead set? I'd check the fuses, circuit breaker.

However, even if it is a fuse or circuit breaker and the set works after you replace the fuse or reset the breaker there still could be something wrong with the set that cause it to trip out so be prepared.
Sometimes a storm can criple the unit, but not entirely blow it up.

Either a surge, strike, or just timing.

Could be a simple fuse to other powersupply semiconductors, its a 15% chance being the tube.
