Thin line through my tv?
Answer:
Geez.EVERYBODY says "Get a NEW TV".
Well, it's an old Mitsubishi.and that's the POINT.
No other TV has such a good picture at that age..
The CRTs are just SOLID...
I know.I owned one...
AND at 18 years my picture still looked great! DID your picture look good before the Vertical output died?
IF it did, you may want to get a TV tech out and quote you a repair price before throwing it out. It's worth the 40 to 50 dollars that will go towards the repair which may be about $150 to $200.
Yep, it could be a $20 part and a $50 Trip charge with $80 to $120 labor (depends on the size of the TV)
The least you would invest is the TRIP charge. Or save a few dollars and deliver it to the shop, just pay their diagnostic and KNOW for sure..
i know you will need to get a new tv because this happened to me
Yes if it's old it's time for new TV. It's HD era btw.
But IF you insist to fix it than you need to change IC Vertical output.
I had that and it soon turned into many thin lines tht eventually stained the screen permanently. It is time for a new TV and you will be happy that you did get a new TV, I was confused, Plasma. LCD, rear projection, so I turned to consumer reports and glad I did, I got a rear projection 62 inch Toshiba for 2 thousand dollars, Oh it is so fine. But if this is a hard price for you, as we all have them at times you can get a regular TV, CRT very cheap these days. I hope you don't get a plasma or LCD, the plasmas are nothing but trouble and the stations are fuzzy until you pay for the HD from the cable company or satellite and only a few stations come in it anyway. So get what you need and sorry I was not able to answer your question that you asked, just saying it might be bettr off if you just buy a new one. Good Luck.
Give the set a smart smack on the side, you need to do this scientifically, if the pic comes right or jumps then you need to get out your 25 watt solder iron and re solder the vert chip, it is very common to get broken solder joints on these chips , If You have not made friends with a soldering iron get someone who has and you will be right .. Note I have done thousands of these, well ok then 100s, would you believe several ? . Cheers Pete
