Is the HD Formal War bring to a close this year?

Seems to me blu-ray is a clean conqueror, about 50% more sale than hd dvd. And some country gonna official adopt blu-ray as officer hd formal like japan contained by march, what you mull over? will it over this year?

Answers:    It'll be YEARS before one become obsolete.....

The FACT that Blu-ray be incorporated into the PS3 systems garners the GAMER cult....

And HD-DVD be smart to deliver the Low Def movie on one side and the HI - Def movie on the other side....plus the DVD costs less....so they gather the MOVIE Cult that still want to watch the unsullied movies on their older DVD players until they can afford to buy a HD-DVD player....

That's SMART marketing within both arenas......

So.....everything is more expensive with Blu-Ray and smaller amount costly in HD-DVD....and both camp get what they want, gamers go and get games and movies, Movie goers get low def and Hi Def and can upgrade over time.....

And the HD manufacturer are smiling......
no

Besides the shows I want in HD are on HD-DVD
The "war" will probably be over within 2008, but not through government act. An HD format is hardly a business of national priority!

It would be better for the market to desire, and all it would rob is one or two studios to either become format dull or one format exclusive (depending on their present stance). But, from the studio's perspective why should they abandon one format (or stay exclusive) when the "losing" format still have a 40% share in the US marketplace ... and has more stand alone players surrounded by place?

Let's see what happens at CES subsequent week ... maybe some big announcement ... but if then by the extremity of 2008 the war will be over. There may not be a "winner" though ... it could be a truce (both formats continue).

HD DVD is the "official" designated DVD successor format (adopted by the DVD Forum). In certainty relative to Blu-ray, HD DVD has be the more deserving product: less expensive, stable specification, grown-up and homogeneous hardware support, more features available ... and most important tantamount picture and audio quality.

As unpalatable as some might find it dual format players may be the outcome from a "truce".

A couple of auxiliary considerations:

1) If it hadn't been for the "format war" prices would not be as low as they are in a minute. Other than availability of all movies contained by a single HD format consumers are better off because of the time of war.

2) The real time of war isn't between HD DVD and Blu-ray, it's between HD disks and DVD --- and DVD are winning. For a total host of reasons it is doubtful that HD disks will supplant DVD. It is more expected they will remain a niche format(s), with the true successor to DVD person various forms of Video on Demand / streaming video / download services for sub-1080p HD ... in about 5 years.
