HDTV Ready?
Answers: Your RCA D52W19 come "HD ready" from the factory. To actually see programs contained by HD, you have to nurture it HD signals from an external source.
Paying DirectTV or the cable company are two ways to accomplish this. A third way is to capture an over the air HDTV tuner (and an antenna) to pick up broadcast programing contained by HD. A Samsung DTBH260F HDTV Terrestrial Tuner
is a popular and relatively inexpensive choice.
Another option is to buy a TIVO HD and hook it into an antenna. This would conduct yourself as both an OTA HDTV tuner and a HDTV recorder.
To see HD on disk, you need any a HD DVD or Blu-Ray disk player.
Boy, they really like to STICK IT to you when you Upgrade don't they.....
DISH is equal way.
BUT....when you SWITCH PROVIDERS....IT comes FREE to you....Free HD, Free install, Free this...Free that.....
You're forced to switch to capture it FREE....
And it really never is FREE, you end up paying for a time bit...like I don`t know a $50 install fee or hookup tax or startup fee.
But it isn't $300 is it.....
u can seize an off nouns antenna n use it that way but u wont that great up an HD trait and not all the channel. investing the 300 bucks would be a good opinion.
