Help near Samsung 40" 1080 LCD HDTV?

Okay. Long story short. We have two Sony's, a 32" ten year older tube that just give out, and 4 yr old 34" HD flat peak (not flat panel).

So the wife and I go out and buy a Samsung 40" LCD flat panel 1080p Model LNT4066F at Bestbuy yesterday. I buy a foreign Monster HDMI cable, plug this badboy into my Comcast HD/DVR Turner, and I wasn't impressed with the picture, zilch at all resembling at the store. Heck, the HD on my old Sony is better.

I did check via User Setup to verify that my Comcast Box be set at 1080p...but still the picture's not all that hot.

Help? Anyone!?

Answers:    Yeaaahhhh your looking at the OLD Low Def channel instead of the NEW HD channels.....

Take a look at Discovery HD THEATER conduit....normally the Guide's LOGO is any HDTH or HDT on most cable boxes....

They use the highest level cameras around.....even their own commercials are HD. Nothing like watching those ANTs scuttle around on those jungle leafs.....

But when you watch Spike TV, you'll see "LACK OF DETAIL"
and "NOISE" within the analog low def signal......and some blockiness caused by the Analog to Digital Conversion.....

Your 34 inch TV is a SONY for God's SAKE....you're comparing apples to oranges.

But the GOOD NEWS is, contained by 2008 we will have MORE HD CHANNELS coming ONLINE !!
I can't dawdle.....

It's not just Direct TV getting those channel, it's Verizon Fios and I would suspect it should occur next to Comcast, Time Warner and other companies.....

Bryan, I have notice that "The Most Expensive TV sets" use the HD SIGNAL and the Cheaper ones are connected to the OLD Low Def Signal at MOST STORES.....

Normally, the HD signal is available on the WALL of the store, and the LOW Def is available ON THE FLOOR.....
Even the store has to rewire, and Install and PAY FOR the HD equipment. And it really costs them a pretty penny.....
So you be probably seeing your TV on the LOW DEF signal....I can always relate what signal is used by looking at the DARK portions of the picture and verifying if here is NOISE in the shady areas.....that's clearly Analog-Low Def if you see it.
Well, actually your sound out interests me because I'm looking at a Samsung 32" LCD HD here in the adjectives and I wasn't really impressed at the picture in the store, but I get the message with adjustment, the picture can be made better, and it had alot of suitable reviews including picture quality. I loved the looks of it and it have some cool features. I hope yours works out. Good Luck.
