Help near cox digital cable box.?

Hi, I'm trying to set up my cox digital cable box.
I got the tv to the right warren, turned the box on, the blue screen popped up, said please skulk while we retrieve the data and afterwards it went black and 4 dashed lines are showing on the box.
I do own the box set up right but I don't have the user encyclopaedia anymore.
