What is the best Hi-Def TV format?
Answer:
I think you can't go wrong with LCD. I have done a ton of research on this , and plasma & DLP are having all sorts of issues cropping up already. LCD has , by far the fewest, and the picture is sharp, good contrast ratio, lower energy costs to operate, and many others. Sony got out of DLP & plasma format a while ago to put their time & money into LCD, knowing it was the best. I would go with:( A.) Sony HDTV( with integrated built-in HD tuner)Grand Wega or Bravia, 42"( B. )Panasonic LCD 42"( C.) Samsung LCD 42", in that order. The Wega or Bravia in the Sony are interface engines that give good resolution in HD & Digital.
likely that a DLP is the best quality. drawbacks are size, but they have a balance of price and picture.
LCDs- can be too bright, and doesn't display dark colors correctly (blacks will appear grey often-- like how the computer screen is black like a screensaver but you can still tell its on)
Plasma - great picture but very expensive.
If you are 'to the extreme', get one with 1080 P (be sure the P is there. 1080i is different.) this will only really benefit though if you have a ps3, hddvd, or blu-ray player.
most hi-def stations are broadcast in either 720p or 1080i (which are essentially about the same.)
