Pros and cons for LCD and plasma television please?
Answers: First of adjectives let me distribute you a bit of advice: don't purchase a 1080p HDTV unless you are getting a blind larger than 50in (which you aren't) or unless you are planning to sit less than 4 1/2 foot from the tv.
The reason for this is your eye will not know how to discern any added detail benefit to the added resolution at the optimal viewing distances for these smaller sizes. 720p will look just as appropriate as 1080p unless you sit much closer to your tv than the optimal viewing distance describes.
Now to answer your question...
Plasmas hold color depth and contrast advantage because of the technology on which plasma is base. Also they tend to have a much wider viewing angle allowing for more of your living room to see a great picture. They hold been prone to burn-in but this is becoming a non issue.
LCDs run cheaper and smaller number hot, and tend to be in the smaller size ranges, though this is shifting rapidly. The viewing angle is much more shrink meaning if view off the center axis you may see brightness, contrast or color shifting.
For my money I prefer Plasma, and as a soul who watches 1080p HD television within all makes/models/technolgies as his livelihood I have somewhat of an experienced belief.

Also, it is worth note that there is tremendously little difference in cost between LCD and CRT Televisions presently.
Both LCD and Plasma produce an excelent picture. I have a short time ago purchased a 50in plasma. When I went shopping they give me a lot of info and overkill. I would ask the salesperson what is the difference between a $2000. tv and a $5000 and their reply be the $5000 would have abundantly better picture. I then asked if I hike into a room with both TVs I could spot the $5000 tv right away because of the pic talent. The reply was capably if they were hooked up like maybe not. So I bought the 50in plasma LG at Future Shop (on line)for 1599 (Canada)
--Daytime viewing is better near LCD but that does not mean the plasma is not fine.
--LCD weigh less----nice the day they deliver it but after that it is not a concern.
i deal in tv's. and in regard to the statement of another saying that lcd's hold a more narrow viewing angle, that isnt other the case. adjectives sony bravia lcd's have a 178 scope viewing angle (180 degrees person watching the tv from the side). this is as good as its gonna obtain, because the 179th degree is so widespread that you will end up seeing the frame of the tv surrounded by front of the picture. also lcd's tend to be cheaper and have a lower casual of getting burn-ins dead pixels etc. If you want the biggest tv possible, progress with plasma or dlp. (the tentative mitsubishi dlps are fantastic. its the mirrors.) But you will probably get a better picture out of an lcd on regular programs that arent focused os much and a wide open color variety. If you're watching mostly sports, return with a plasma because the contrast ratio is the best providing better colors. but the high finish off lcd's like the sharp aquos or sony bravia usually hold a higher resolution, which mode more pixels per square inch which translates to a sharper picture. either one you buy will most predictable satisfy your everyday requirements its just if your planning on watching a specific program/genre will you want to select one or the other.
