Popping Sound On My New LCD HDTV When Turned OFF?
Matt
Answer:
Well in recent years.
We have seen several TV cabinets make popping sounds, it's because the plastic heats up in use, then when it cools down the plastic "pops" against other pieces. We have even had customers who DIDN'T have their TV turned on, and it was located by a sunny window or door and it popped because the sun warmed up the cabinet enough to get the plastic pieces rubbing/popping/moving against each other !
And it's an annoyingly Quick.. pop! Bang!
"What the He** was that noise?!"
Scared me the first time I heard it.
That's technology for you..the older wood cabinets never popped, but plastic against plastic is another thing.
There really isn't a FIX for this situation, but you could pay a TECH to come out, loosen all the screws, then get some tape to put on the flanges of the rear cabinet. That may stop the pieces from popping.
