What is the impact on picture aspect and nouns talent of watching a 480p DVD on a 720p or 1080p HDTV?
Unfortunately, I didn't do my homework before getting the Bose system (purchased 6 months ago using Airmiles rewards program so ditching it is not an option), as I be infatuated with simplicity of operation and small size, minus checking its compatibility with today's HDTV technology. Your experience, suitability, and advice is most appreciated.
Sincerely,

Answers: Right, HDTV is only as honourable as the signal it receives. It is close to asking the TV to upconvert a Free Air Signal from "bunny ear antennas" to 1080p. The best thing to do within your situation is to get a Upconverting DVD Player (Samsung make excellent ones for about $130). Make sure you walk with a moral quality HDMI Cable from the DVD Player to the TV, and a High standard Optical Cable from the DVD to the Bose Receiver (Not sure if this receiver have an optical in or not). If the Bose does not enjoy an optical in and 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound is not prominent to you then RCA will own to do the trick. So sorry you didnt do your HW on the BOSE. It just comes to show that since BOSE systems are not completely expandable it just BLOWS!
the hdtv will upscale the 480p signal to any 720p or 1080p. You will not notice the difference contained by picture from a 480p signal.
those look like 40 or 46" hdtvs, you won't see a difference between 720p or 1080p. If you want 1080p, return with at least a 50" tv, the bigger the better.
