my comcast cable box was blinking "subt off" after if you press the on button it just go back to the time but when you try to turn it on the cable box get frozen and this has happent to me twice any accepted wisdom of what "subt off" and or if i need to replace my cable box

I'd a short time ago take it spinal column to the nearest comcast location and trade it for a new one. I've have to do that several times with my remote- luckily there's a comcast branch organization about 15 min from me!
Take your box to your local department and swap with a contemporary one; let them know what it be doing so they can take a look at the box for a bigger issue.
