48in flipside projection Mitsubishi TV picture clarity problem?

The picture is going from clear to blurry can anyone give me suggestions on what the problem is and if near is a possibility of me fixing it myself or what it would cost to have fixed? Or my end option is to splurge and go and get a flat screen.

Answers:    Well, I have a Mitsubishi rear projection TV built surrounded by the late 80's...wood crumb cabinet units.

From the wager on of the TV set if you LOOK at the right side board, there are some plugs that own Brown Glue underneath the connections....Sometimes that brown glue ages to the point it starts absorbing humidity surrounded by the room....

IF you remove it from the board carefully and breed sure there is no epoxy resin left to stroke like a conductor, you can sometimes generate the problem go away....

The OTHER possibility is in that is a High Voltage Transformer located on that same board....Sometimes the 19 Volt sense voltage off of that transformer starts to fluctuate Up and down...and it affects the focus IC located on the convergence board....You would own to replace the transformer, but that part hasn't be available for seven years...

Most parts become obsolete after the 13th year since it be manufactured....

Those are about the solely things I have see affect the focus like you stated....
