I have a sony kdl52xbr3 that occasionally give me a trouble code with the standby pallid flashing 9 times. The tv comes on for a second then shuts itself down. If i turn it on and at the double push the tv/video button i can get it to stay on most of the time any concept what this code is and if there is an straightforward repair

The 9 blinks indicate the Zero crossing detector can't detect when the TV's AC line voltage drops to nil...it's used to start the TV set without cause EXCESS current surge....
yep its the zero cross error, here is a diode on the "G" board that becomes leaky and cause the set to shut down. From what I remember its a surface mount diode. In other words, call your local TV tech to pedal it.
