What is the best flatscreen tv on the market for around $400 - $500 ?

I am assuming you mean "flat panel" (the TV itself is flat, not "deep") as there are "flat screen" TV's that are traditional tubes, but the screen is flat.

I would consider going to CostCo and checking out the Vizio 32" or 37". You can usually get them for very cheap, and they work OK.
