I can't get my dvd player to work with my new tv..?

...I just bought an LCD flat panel HDTV. The brand name is "Protron." The cable guy came and hooked up my high def cable box, but i can't figuire how to get my DVD player to work. I tried hooking the red, white, and yellow cords into the tv and DVD player, and I changed the video source on the tv, but still nothing. Can anyone help me!?

Answer:
New TVs have a lot of input ports.

Double check that the right colors are connected to their corresponding colors. (the cable)

Then hit source or TV/AV until you see input AV1, AV2 or even AV3 (this is if you are using RCA to connect, which you seem to use)

Remember to have some DVD playing so you'll notice when you find the right input source.

Anyways, make sure your plugging them into the correct input, not output.

Make sure you turn it to the correct tv input.

ex. You plugged them into av1, turn the tv input to av1..etc
treat it just like a vcr, it has to be tuned in, it may require a different channel to work on, I had a guy last week said he could not record from his TV set, so I went round, he was trying to record from sky, As sky is an encripted you cannot record from it only from the 5 basic channles, sorry. M8 that's all the help I can offer.
