Why doe my 20 inch LG television look bad when Im right next to it but looks great when Im 5ft away?

Answer:
That's how it is supposed to work. The limited resolution of your eyes causes the blurry details you notice up close to blend together into a smooth image at the proper viewing distance. Standard definition televisions are designed to be wactched from 3-4x distance of the diagonal measurement; for a 20-inch screen this is, surprise, 5-7 feet.
