I have just bought a 42" Toshiba HD Plasma screen and I have to say that its fantastic. There is however, one problem. I am still using a fairly old DVD player connected using a standard scart cable. Whenever I play DVD's there is a lag with the sound so that that sound comes about a second after the actors lips have moved. As you can imagine this is very off putting. Is there any way to resolve this problem? Would buying a HD scart cable resolve the problem or would I need a new DVD player?

it's either the scart or the dvd player,
I would change the dvd player ( get an upscaling one ) buy an hdmi lead, therefore getting the best out of the dvd and tv.

This sounds like a problem with your DVD player. Plasmas do delay the picture slightly, but only by a frame or two. If your talking about a second, thats 25-30 frames depending on what part of the world you are in. A different cable is not going to change this, try a different dvd first, then a different dvd player
Yes buy a upscaling dvd player using hdmi, will look impressive with just plain dvds!

What is happening here is that the sound was taking longer to process, making it a second late. I dont think there is an easy way to resolve this problem. Unless there is a way for you to delay the video so that they will sychronize. You cant obviously speed up the capability of the sound processing of the old video player.
