Out of nowhere there is a black spot on a small part of the screen and we are past the 30 day warranty(for the screen), any idea how much it will cost, or what it is??

Probably a defective pixel (picture element). I can't imagine Hitachi not covering that under warranty. The cost might be quite a bit depending on whether it's a direct view LCD (flat panel) or, more likely, projection LCD (larger, deeper cabinet).
I agree with " Peachy " & Telly V. They know their stuff ! I think theyshould cover it if they expect more business from you, or the MANY people you tell about it. When you go to see them, if they start with the excuses, speak a little louder when you say, " What do you mean you won't fix my new TV only 30 days past warranty ? " That works, especially if other prospective customers are within ear shot of your tirade ! Go for it ! Make them fix it ! Good Luck !
