I tried connecting it where I should, and through a VCR, but it still does not show up. Any other accepted wisdom. I did go to another TV and it works fine and the TV it works on is elder.

Well the N64 should be fine then......
You must be connecting it to another INPUT. Try some of the other Yellow White Red inputs...see if they work correctly.
IF NOT, try a DVD player that uses the SAME type of input similar to the N64 does...
We want to find out if the TV has problems near the Low Def input connectors...that's why we try another source like the DVD player.
