I've had a HD Ready TV for over a year. When will we get High Definition TV transmitted ?

Answer:
Sam, I want to add a little information to that already posted, Your HD ready TV probably has a tuner, it's just not a HD tuner, the pic, your seeing is probably analog, because that's all your TV can do, as already posted you will have to provide the TV with a HD signal from a HD tuner in the form of a HD cable Box, A HD satelitte receiver receiving a HD signal. I agree the industry really did a mis-service in not properly explaning what "HD ready" means. if the TV had been built with a HD digital Tuner to start with, you would probably get some HD programming off an air antenna, but without the Tuner, you won't get a HD experience.
Where are you? HD has been transmitted over the air for years in some areas.
Most major metropolitan areas are broadcasting in HDTV, If you do not have a HDTV tuner in your TV, you will have to get one, LG just came out with a DVD recorder with HDTV tuners built in. An easier approach would be to call your cable or sat elite companies and have them upgrade your service and your cable or satelite box to HD
Sky already have a transmittion for HD and have this in a package.

You can take advantage of other HD products like a High Def DVD player, Blu ray etc.
Hmmm... the term HD Ready was industry speak for a TV capable of displaying HD resolution, but without the necessary tuner. The tuner included with the set may be capable of receiving only SD (Standard Def.) broadcasts. You would still have to supply your own HD capable tuner. These tuners are usually called ATSC/QAM compliant. Check your TV spec to verify if this is the case.
call ur local cable company, tell them to upgrade you to hd, then buy an hdmi cable, boom, ur fixed
HD Ready means just that, it doesn't have a built in HD Tuner, therefore you need to supply it with an HD signal from some source, which it is "ready" to accept. Unless you feed an HD signal from a HD DVD player(which has the HD tuner) or something like that, you will not have the true HD experience. Do you have the HD cable box which will tune in an HD signal from the in-coming cable line ? I always advise people to make sure they have a true HD signal from their cable Co. & then buy an HDTV with a built-in HD tuner, thereby avoiding all these other issues.
