We can't make our bigscreen hdtv play widescreen movies on the whole screen. it worked @the store. ideas?
Answer:
with a hd tv u need a hd box from your cable / sat company..if you have one...then there are many things it could be.first with comcast we have a reg 2 and an hd 2 they are on 2 different channels.if the show is not being braodcasted in hd then it well not fill the screen ... now if you have a true hd tv and you are on an hdtv with and hd box then there are setting on the remote that should give you full screen /zoom/zoom 2/4.3 aspect... also what kinda cable you using and are you using you hd tv to its fullest ( meaning if you are on 3 and using a coaxil cable then no...composite wire [red/blue/green-red/white] then you are using it to about 75-80% on component 1or 2) if you are using hdmi or dvi... is about 100%...) if you have a comcast cable box the hit cable / power/ menu buttons in that order and see if the settings are 16:9 /1080i/480i override.. in the override you might have to mess with that every tv is a bit different.then hit power /power to turn the tv back on.if not you can try 4:3 pan scan / 1080i/ 480i override
Unless it's a widescreen tv a widescreen movie isn't supposed to fill up the entire screen. If it is a widescreen tv you shouldn't have to do anything to get it to work right.
Movies are made at various widescreen aspect ratios; 1.7:1
1.9:1, etc. Unless the movie is made into a 16:9 ratio (which is rare), you are going to have to live with the black stripes on top and the bottom.
