What is wrong with a tv when it goes off and on every 30 seconds? The standby button blinks.?
we have tried to plug it in the wall.

What kind of TV?, Recently had a Mitsubishi projection HD TV that would start to flash standby and then would turn off, could turn it back on but it would do it again every few hours. Mitsubishi sent me a computer flash card and a set of instructions on downloading new software into the TV. worked like a charm. They said it was a glitch in the software.
Another possibility is the sleep timer, check your instruction manual

We had a 63" Sony that did the same thing. We were told that it was 2 different computer boards in the TV that needed replacing that was going to run about $1,000. Needless to say we didn't go this route. They worked on it and got it to stay on, but totally screwed up the color in the process. We ended up getting a new TV instead. Did not want to put $1,000 in a tv although it was only 5 yrs old. Doubt we will ever go with Sony again!
