Looking to buy LCD, hear it uses more electricity?

I thought about buying 32"-36" HD organized, 16:9, 720pi LCD TV. I heard that it uses more electricity than a tube TV. Why is that so? And what around a plasma TV? And what do you recommend would be a better LCD or dlp or plasma TV for best electric saving TV? Thanks!

Answers:    Actually an LCD uses smaller quantity than a Tube (CRT) or a Plasma. Most LCD's use a Compact Flourescent bulb for their lighting but the nicer Samsungs use LED, this is the most efficient method out in that with the exception of OLED displays but those are roughly 10x the cost of a regular LCD.

LED DLP is also a great choice if you are energy conscious.

You should be aware though that NO TV is mainly energy restructured, and you will never make posterior the cost of the electricity for the difference in price between them.

LCD's own less Lead than CRTs
CRT's hold less Mercury than LCDs
Plasma's enjoy more of both than either. Plasma is probably the worst TV environmentally.

What ever TV you win you should take the time to calibrate it using the Sexy Girl Calibration Images.
LCD uses smaller amount energy than a Plasma, but more than a Tube.

Also, did you know that even if your TV's or other electonics are not turned on, but still plugged within, that they are still consuming energy?
From more dynamism consumption to less, the command is: CRT/Tube, Plasma, LCD.

LCD TVs are extremely energy-efficient, typically consuming 60% less power than comparably-sized tube-type direct-view TVs.

LCD TVs are usually more liveliness efficient than plasma models of like size.
I have a Phillips 60" HD TV With an activeness star.

It is 30+ lbs, and uses very little force.
This is not an issue. LCD uses less than 2 cents an hour here, plasma more or less 3.
