What cables do i need when i buy a plasma or lcd tv. can i just use normal ones or do i need a special type?

Answer:
No, do not use normal ones. What you want, is an HDMI cable. That's assuming you have a cable box or satelite reciever box that has an HDMI out. Don't worry about getting the $100 monster ones either, get the cheapest you can find but make sure it's no longer than 12 feet. If it's 12 feet or under, it will look the same as the monster cables and save you like $80.

HDMI is the best quality you can get, and you'll want it for that TV.

If your boxes don't have an HDMI out, I would complain to the cable/satalite company and get a new box.

The next step down is component. That's the red, green, blue cable. It's not as good as HDMI, but it's better than s-video.
normal will do..:)
You can use the normal ones but I would recommend upgrading. When you go to the electronics store and you see that wonderful picture on the screen, it's a high def signal. The only way that you can get high def on your tv is to use a high def source(digital cable or satellite) and high def cables(component and HDMI) If you just use normal S-video, composite, or cable, it'll be the same picture that you get on your old tv, just bigger. All of the graininess will look worse bigger. If you want it to look good, yes, you need to upgrade cables, and sources.
Normal ones will work but to take advantage of the high definition you will need HDMI or component.
