Big screen tv help-How can I get rid of scratches on the screen--I'm desperate!?

Answer:
You have a really great answer from someone already, but I was just wondering--------I've been seeing these commercials on TV about a product to remove scratches from reading glasses and just wonder if it is any good. Just a thought.
Glass or Plastic..?

For a glass screen (rear-projection,etc.) you can hit the automotive section of Walmart or AutoZone (don't laugh...I'm serious).

They sell a few polishes that will remove fine scratches from your windshield, and you want the few that don't require rinsing with water (the paste format).

Plastic screens (plasma, etc.) are a bit tougher to cleanup, but they can still be cleaned with a polishing compound and a low-speed buffer (or by hand...faster buffing will "burn" the plastic and leave blurs).

Silver polish is one such compound...it cleans by actually removing minute layers of the material being cleaned until the surface is even again.
This is a long and tedious task, but for fine scratches it will leave a good surface.

For a slightly deeper scratch, there are resin fillers available that will hide the scratch pretty well...just be sure you get one designed specifically for plastic.
