Energy efficiency of the Hitachi 42HDS69 42" Plasma TV?

Answer:
Plasma TVs are among the most power hungry televisions there are. To use the words "energy efficient" in the same sentence as Plasma is contradictory. Yours uses over 300 watts. Direct view CRT televisions typically consume around 100 watts or so. LCDs can vary from 80 to 150 depending on size. Projection televisions vary all over the place... 120 to 350.
