I have have my Sony Bravia LCD TV connected to my Dish Network HD DVR for about a year in a minute and have have absolutely no problems. Recently, I own been have problems with my satellite signal due to a tree i.e. getting in the process of the dish. However, I have just now discovered that the problem might not be the tree. I have notice that I am now losing my signal minus any interference from the tree. I know that it is not a signal problem because I plugged in some RCA cable as a temporary fix and I am have no problems getting a picture with that setup. The DVR is connected to the TV near a HDMI cable. Is there something wrong near my TV, my HDMI cable, my DVR, or all of the above? When I move the input on the TV to the HDMI port, I just take a black screen and a couple of colored static lines very soon and then. Anybody hear of this before?
Answers: HDMI connections use "handshaking" which finances they talk to respectively other >before< displaying a picture....
Sometimes they don't communicate....
Do you have another HDMI nouns? If so, try that one, as the HDMI connectors ARE Fragile and don't like HEAVY HDMI cable connected to them.....
TRY a set of COMPONENT (5 wire) cables....those are HD cable too....It can tell you if the HDMI is bleak or if the SIGNAL is bad....
If you bring back your low def stations on the Component cables, but not the HD stations, you may own a dead HD horn on your satellite dish (aka LNB reciever)
So, check your signal using your present RCA cable setup first....let's see if you achieve ALL your Stations or only your Low Def ones....
Then try the Component cable next...see if you can obtain a picture and sound....
THEN try another HDMI connector on your TV and see if you take a picture....If you do, then the FIRST HDMI connector may be broken. If so, try a lighter set of HDMI cable to avoid breaking it again....
And yes, you will need to hold the TV serviced.....
