TV problems. Help?
Answers: On older sets resembling that, eventually the heating and cooling of the set will wreak cold solder joints to appear. The solder is what holds the components to the circuit boards. When you slap the tv, you are vitally jiggling the loose component so that it make a better electrical connection. The problem is every time you slap the tv, you are also shaking the other components surrounded by the tv which will eventually cause them to fall through.
The other possible area that the tv could be failing is the coax nouns in the hindmost of the set. Try wiggling the coax cable the subsequent time you are experiencing a problem and see if that is the problem. If it is, hold a friend that knows something nearly electronics to take the backbone cover off the tv and touch up the solder on the coax cable nouns to the back of the set. (remember, power bad, tv unplugged, disconnect your coax cable to the tv, and touch nothing else except the coax cable)
If it is not that, given the age of the set, I would not lavish your time calling a tv repairman. It will cost more to fix it than it will to replace it.
Shouldn't hurt it, but it wont work forever either!. but bring up to date her it might be risky, electrical fires arent good!, time to upgrade anyway!
