Do HDTV's really have need of 1080p?

I am curious to see if it is worth the money to get 1080p? I read that the merely way to fully undertake 1080p is through an hd dvd player. The prices for all 720p hdtv's are substantially cheaper.
Thanks

Answers:    The best means of access I can answer your question is this. Do you stipulation to have a Maserati to drive to the store. Buying more tv, in a minute anyway, than you need is foolish. Broadcasters are simply required right now to deliver 720p for digital HD. The companies selling HD tvs want to provide more expensive tvs now because the prices on them are much sophisticated than the will when 1080 becomes the norm, give or take a few five years down the line. Your Programming for 720 will be fine for the forseeable adjectives. Enjoy the TV, enjoy the nest egg (take a trip for what you save), and worry in the order of migrating to the added costs when the added costs come down.

Good luck.
It's really your choice.

If you want it cheap then buy the 720p.
Standard def is 480 dpi (dots per inch).
High def standards are 720i and 1080i. Either one is Hi-def, although 1080i will be a short time bit sharper. Either one's a huge improvement over standard TV. Remember you obligation HD programming (HD or Blu-Ray disc; or a HD tuner) to get anything better that 480i. Regular DVD's are merely 480i.
