TV bought within Australia working surrounded by New Zealand, will not provide nouns within the UK- unblemished picture.?

TV is rather weak, bought in 2000. Has be used fine in NZ and Aus, and presently not working contained by the UK. Picture is the best I've had within all three countries, but merely loud static sound surrounded by UK. We did have trouble connecting outside transmitter as the wire have snapped and therefore have to be reconnected. Could this have something to do beside it?

Answers:    It is not the aerial.

The problem you hold is caused by the slight difference within the transmission frequencies of the nouns and picture signals. They're always paired and a fixed distance apart for respectively 'channel' in the UHF spectrum.
This separation is different for the UK ones than it is for the NZ/Oz ones. I could bring back more technical but there's no point.

If you use the tv 'fine tune' controls afterwards you will probably be able to obtain great sound but a crummy picture.

If you use a Sky or Freeview box connected by a SCART front then you'll take good service. The SCART system doesn't use UHFmoduation and the nouns and picture signals are carried on separate wires inside the cable. If your tv doesn't have a SCART socket consequently I'm afraid that you're stuffed.

The cost of having your set modified to UK UHF nouns standards would probably make it not worth while. Also, surrounded by a few years the analogue television system will be switched sour so your set wouldn't work anyway on just the mast.

Note that the Freeview box (about lb20) will require a good signal from the receiver. If you've snapped the cable then you must replace it (a sellotape repair isn't righteous enough). You should consider getting a nice new High Gain mast while you're about it. The cost is not much compared next to the cost of a television and the tv is individual as good as the input that it's getting.
hi
the setting are different from oz and NZ to UK, we move second Jan to NZ and took our telly and we had to plug it surrounded by though sky and it worked no problem
so think you will enjoy to do same have sky within uk
The sound is on a different frequency surrounded by the UK , it is 6MHz compared to 5.5 MHz in Australia and NZ .
The remedy is to connect a UK VCR using Av lead !
Cheers Pete
The UK uses PAL-I and Australia and NZ use PAL-B/G (as does most of Europe). This just system the sound is on a different frequency which is why it won't pick it up. See if you can amend the country setting to UK (or South Africa if UK isn't there, they use PAL-I as well). If not, after you need to plug a Freeview, cable or satellite box into it using a Scart front (as Scart and AV shouldn't be affected, it's single the RF or aerial that make a difference).
