Which should I buy? Samsung plasma 50" 720p next to right anti-glare or Toshiba lcd 47" 1080p ? Same price...
Answers: Get the Toshiba.
1. Many TV programs are broadcast contained by 1080i. At the size screen you're conversation about, you will see a poorer picture if the 1080i have to be downgraded to 720P.
2. Blu Ray, HD DVD and some games are 1080P. Again, with this size eyeshade, you don't want to downgrade the picture to 720P.
3. See the link to reliability notes for Toshiba.

Samsung hands down. There is not even broadcast signals out right in a minute to utilize the 1080P. By the time networks broadcast in 1080P, you will probably want an upgraded tube. Go Samsung 720P which also shows in 1080I.
Good luck.
Samsungs are pieces of cast-offs. Second, dont buy online buy from a local shop helps local cutback and you get a ton better support.
I suggest a Sony Bravia part. The best of overall quality.
Second a Toshiba.
CNET does not report to you how long or reliable the unit last. Most tvs work great hot off reporters.
For a plasma unit, I suggest a Hitachi or a Panasonic Plasma.
For LCD I suggest Sony Bravia.
