52" LCD HDTV - Which one is the best?
I've done a lot of research but I am still confused. Obviously, the two most popular are Samsung and Sony ($$$). The problem is, the Samsung A550=60hz only; 650 have many problems; the 750 and 850 (what I was going to get) also hold significant issues. The 750 has a VERY well documented (see AVS forum) "Halo Effect" due to overly shiny blind (a trick to cheat and get a higher contrast ratio) and 850- no "Halo effect" but a main infrared issue that blocks 90% of other remotes from working. Both the 750+850 TOC bezels chip. I've spoken with Samsung and they have confirmed these principal flaws- one guy said their work around is duct tape or turn your cable box to a 45 degree angle- neither of which are reasonable on a 2k+ purchase! The Sony is very $$$ and the pq is just ok, If I did move about with Sony, which model and please be specific as to why. I also welcome your thoughts on any other competitors that proposal great picture quality..

I've been unfolding people here a long time that Samsung makes second-hand goods. I'll also tell you the Sony picture is far better than "just ok".

You can buy something smaller number if you want... but I still get a laugh out of it when someone consequently later complains.
The Samsung LN52A650 is probably the most popular 52" 1080p LCD -- its very suitable -- I don't know what kind of problems youre talking more or less with the A650 other than the repugnant red touch of color bezel.
I suggest you get the newly released Toshiba 52XV545U 52" 1080p (a) 120Hz LCD HDTV w 5:5 pulldown support and SRT.

If you want an elder model that has more reviews check out the Toshiba 52XV540 or 52X550U
