Which is the best lcd or plasma TV to buy contained by 40"?
Answers: Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Toshiba in that directive of brand name aspect.
We have Panasonics surrounded by our house. I have friends satisfied w/ samsung. My brother has a toshiba and the color is divine!
I think that what may comfort narrow things down more, is if you could share a budget...base on your budget, I can give you suggestions for a great LCD or Plasma to be precise HD. :)
As far as brands go:
If you want merit and quality: Vizio
For better colors and contrast but more $: Sony Bravia
For the top-of-the-line, no-holds expelled, mucho grande TV: Pioneer/Pioneer ELITE

Plasma, they're starting to find out that lcd don't last completely long as they're already having problems.
This is a restrictive: LCDs have PLASTIC screen and are very breakable.A broken LCD cannot be ecomicaly repaired. It is second-hand goods. No warranty no insurance will cover.
Sony is not the old Sony of 5 or 10 years ago. They will cheat you within a heartbeat and with a grin.
I would not suggest getting a plasma, they can burn within and they're life expectancy is one and only a 5-7 years. LCD's televisions own beautiful pictures and free up lots of precious living room space. They are pretty and mounting on a wall can be tricky ut it's well worth it and you can other splurge for protection plans and insurance if you want some added piece of mind. The difference in a crappy LCD and a appropriate LCD is huge so I would really only consider these four brands-
Sharp Aquos- My first choice, by the numbers this TV perform like a champ within all category while remaining reliable and fairly affordable. You can bring a 1080p 42" on buydig for $1395 and a 52" for $2250 delivered to door. I would suggest forking over a couple more dollars for the 52" >: )
Sony Bravia- Probably slightly better color handling and more convincing then their Sharp counterparts but much pricier. It's ultimately up to you if it's worth it.
Samsung- Decent TV but the vibrant color handling algorithms engender their color unrealistic and they really can't measure up to the Aquos price-wise.
Pioneer- I'm individually not too familiar beside Pioneer but I have hear good things and from what I've see they're good TVs, they're price stub seems to reflect that..
