Comcast Cable?

I cant speak for comcast but when I moved here from LA I brought my dish with me...sure enough it was still giving me local LA TV and di so for about two years when I up graded the system...had something to do with the programing card...
I don't think cable can do that as everyone local gets the same feeds.
this year however I have noticed all the local TV stations are moving to web casting so you might want to pick which ever service gives you the best broadband then you can watch local TV from anywhere in the world...
Hey! I live in the Bay Area too... Sorry to have to tell you this, but Comcast Cable does not give you the flexibility to choose your own local channels.
Normally satellite TV does not let you pick your local channels either. However, I have heard that if you want a different FOX / ABC / NBC / CBS affiliate from what they originally give you, then you can sometimes negotiate with them to get what you want. They do have the technology to make this happen...
The other option (if the channel you want is a broadcast channel) is to get a really powerful antenna and see if you can pick up the channel off the air... this will really only work if you are no more than about 60 miles from the transmitter.
Finally, since you mention 49ers, if what you are really looking for is to pick up the local teams' ball games, then you can check for special sports packages on Comcast... but of course these will cost you extra.
