Why cant you use computer monitors as tv's?
im lookin at the dell monitors, 22inches and up
Answer:
You can, just get a TV tuner card, ATI cards are pretty good and cheap, you could get a good card for like $60. You will need a whole desktop as well, but the cool thing is you can have a cheap TIVO system as well. Then you can pas your cable or satellite signal through there and you have a cheap LCD TV system.
uuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmm... a computer is so NOT a flippin tv
you cant they have different insides they are not the same thing at all they just look the same on the outside.
you can, but as far as i know you need the computer also. you just put a tv card in the computer, hook up cable and away you go!!
You can, you just have to buy something like this. Ignore the other posts; this plugs into your monitor and DOES NOT require a computer at all!

indeed. you have to get a card to put in your desktop (dont know about portables) for about $125 (it is the tuner etc.) and it just plugs to your cable. cool, eh? i have a 1000:1 contrast dcdi 21" monitor that could be used that way. just haven't gotten around to doing it. good luck pal. check out what tiger direct has to offer. call them an talk to one of their reps some actually know what they are talking about.
Yes, you can use LCD monitors as TVs. The only thing you need to worry about is whether or not your video card can handle a coaxial cable, s-video cable, antenna, or anything else you want to plug into your computer, in order to see your TV.
You have to turn your computer on everytime you want to watch TV if you are going through your video card, which might get annoying.
On the other hand, you can record and edit TV shows while playing TV through your computer, something you couldn't do with the device that dhdregun mentioned above.
They are cheaper because they don't have a tv tuner card on them. You can buy a tv tuner card for your pc for about 20 dollars on ebay (that's what i did) and install it. Then, you can use your computer as a tv.
You want an external tv tuner with vga out. I've seen them as low as $50.

Here in London UK, I was looking around a Currys Digital store yesterday, and I saw several TV's that can double as PC monitors. It seems that some TV manufacturers do make dual-purpose TV's but mostly 15 inches and 17 inches. Dell are strictly computers and do not make TV's.
