Why does my tv turn itself off after a few minutes.?

If its a philips its a common fault
check it 4 sleep timer, make sure it is int auto on for 5 minuets .
maybe u have it on sleep mode. which is when you go to bed and watch tv, you can set a timer so it turns off when in a certain time while you sleep, or mayb your house is haunted,,,,oooohhahaaaaoooohah...
Are you sure you have checked the timer on BOTH devices? Is there a separate menu for the TV and the DVD player ; even tho it is one unit?
Does your TV have a V-chip? Is it somehow activated?
What ever the problem, you should go online to the manufactures' website for "troubleshooting" answers.
maybe your just sitting on the remote
