Hdtv plays high def channels but not analog ones. What is the problem?

I have changed the cable box and the wires, so I know this is not the problem. I have a WEGA 32 inch Sony HDTV. My other tv seems to work fine with the same connections. The HDTV cannot hold the signal for the non-high def channels--it either gives a black screen or the picture is very wavy.

Answer:
There may be separate antenna connectors.
When you say your other TV works, does that mean on the same cable box, wires and coax outlet?

Analog channels and digital channels run on different frequencies. Therefore, it can be a bad cable box or coax outlet. Test a different TV on that coax outlet. If you are using a coax splitter, eliminate it for testing purposes. Also, switch cable boxes. If you plug the TV directly to the coax outlet without the cable box, you can start troubleshooting by a process of elimination.

My guess is the coax outlet or the cable box. I highly doubt it is the cables or TV.
