Which brand of TV is better, LG or Philips. Im planning to buy a regular flat screen TV, not an LCD.?

Just a regular TV not an LCD or HDTV, just a typical flat screen which is cheap.

Answer:
I have always had RCA or Sanyo. I am having no problems with these tv's at all. I have 3 and one is a 36 inch, and the other two are 20 inch. The 36 inch one is a sanyo. Had it for about 8 years, no problems out of the 36 sanyo. They are reasonably priced.
no matter what i would buy a Sony.
I have a regular 27 inch flat screen but it's a Samsung and it's the best tv I've ever bought. It was also fairly cheap as well.
LG is number one! However I would suggest getting an HDTV if you can afford it. I assume your in Asia but the folowing applies to the US. You can go to the link below to see the switch over for other countries.

In the United States by no later than February 17, 2009, all U.S. television broadcasts will be exclusively digital, by order of the Federal Communications Commission, with legislation setting this deadline signed into law in early 2006.[6] Furthermore, starting March 1, 2007, new television sets that receive signals over-the-air, including pocket sized portable televisions, must include digital or HDTV tuners for digital broadcasts.[7] Currently, most U.S. broadcasters are beaming their signals in both analog and digital formats; a few are digital-only. Citing the bandwidth efficiency of digital TV, after the analog switch-off the FCC will auction off channels 52–59 (the lower half of the 700 MHz band) for other communications traffic[8], completing the reallocation of broadcast channels 52–69 that began in the late 1990s. The analog switch-off ruling, which so far has met little opposition from consumers or manufacturers, would render all non-digital televisions dark and obsolete within 2 years. The FCC has determined that an external tuning device can simply be added to non-digital televisions to lengthen their useful lifespan. (However, as of March 2007, external tuning devices are not widely available, are relatively expensive, and require bulky AC power supplies.) Currently, even the earliest televisions continue to work with present broadcast standards. This mandate was designed to help provide a painless transition to the new standards.
they are basically the same...kind crappy...but decent
i'd say phillips but you could consider samsung.
LG makes a great 30" hdtv flat screen tube, with an incredible tuner that pick up most hdtv without using a set top box, it's about $500 to $600 but double check the price drops all the time.ps LG is the worlds largest plasma panel producer, they make them for a lot of other brands, they also own the patent on the quam tuner...
philips is leader in innovation and it has technology which can produce best picture and best sound

go for Philips!
LG is the best TV brand I ever used in my life. the color is life like. Been usig my LG flat tv for 5 years, gave me no trouble. my friends have samsung, or sony, color comparison: LG TV rocks!
