Question just about ATSC tuner contained by a DVD recorder?

Some DVD Recorders with digital tuners are powerless of outputting true high-definition content from ATSC signals. It seems that they down-convert the inspired high-definition signal to 480p and then it up-convert it to 1080p. The down-conversion appears to be mandatory for DVD recording purposes.

How can I find a DVD Recorder / VCR combo deck next to an ATSC tuner that will deliver true HD content to an HDTV monitor from live OTA HD digital broadcasts?

Answers:    You can't. There aren't any.

The DVD standard is for standard resolution only, so you can't story DVDs in HD.

It's not possible that you will see any recorders that outdo through the HD signals for live display. This is not a technical shortening, it's just that doing so would donate cost to the recorder.
