How to choose new tv?
Answer:
things you should look for.
1)HD Ready - High Definition so better quality image on a high resolution screen.
2)LCD/ Plasma Many arguements over this but generally. 32 and smaller LCD. 37+ go plasma.
the big difference in quality starts showing.
Plasma can
display more colours,
wide viewing angle,
FASTER RESPONSE,
standard definition (freeview, DVD's etc) look better.
Softer image (personal preference)
Black - Black is black
LCD
No Glaring
Looks great on High Definition.
Sharp (maybe too sharp for some)(personal preference)
Cheaper to run (marginally and depends on brand)
Plasma negs
Screen burn - Very rarely happens but permanent background image or onscreen logo.
Screen Retention - As above but disappears after 5mins.
Glaring
LCD negs
Response time- Espicially on large screens may suffer motion blurring eg tennis with ghosts behind
Black- Black is grey or blue
But newest LCDs have improved loads.
There are 2 main Hd standards aswell
720p (HD)
1080p (full HD)
I make it simple 8feet or closer 42" you would see difference between the 2. But Standard Def will look worse on a 1080p set, as you would need to be closer.
Digital Tv is just freeview and best to have it built in if you can.
There are alot of myths of Plasma's aswell which you should ignore.
You need to re-gas them. (not true) designed to 60,000 hrs like LCD's backlight.
You get screen burn (not true) espc with Panasonic/Pioneer unless you leave it on a static image for 24hr straight or something silly that 99% of consumers wouldn't do.
Anyway I hope I have helped.
Good places to check.

And avoid the cheap brands as they be of low quality.
For plasma the best are
Pioneer (elite and most expensive)
Panasonic (Very Very Very close to Pioneer Quality and alot cheaper)
Samsung (cheapest brand i would go for)
For LCD's
Panasonic
Sony
Samsung
easy... just go to the store and ask a store salesman
go to the shop ask, all new TVs are hd ready
it should be hidefinition ready with hdmi connection. if you prefer a good sound tv choose the one with dolby or stereo sound in its specification. then choose if you want a plasma or lcd screen it would be depends on your budget. also the size needs to consider also.
If you don't know what you want how do you expect curries are going to help you find it? You need a licence to own a television in this country you know (angrily waving fist in the air)
Go with LCD if you can afford it. Typically better picture than Plasma. If you can't afford a good brand like Sony, Sharp or LG I would suggest going plasma as the quality really drops off on the lower quality brands.

The best TV on the market at the moment is the Sharp LCD i have a 42" and the picture quality is fantastic, another good on is Toshiba LCD, they are due to release an updated HD DVD recorder soon, i went on the training course for it and was amazed. Dont go for a plasma or a DLP as they are expensive to repair.
