they are both very similar. the best thing you could do is go to a store like best buy or something where u can see both of them and decide for yourself which picture you like best. i have a 56" DLP from samsung and love it.
I can't speak of projection TV's since we have none in inventory, BUT, I can provide you with a little insight of the differences between LCD and DLP projectors which are at the heart of both units. LCD or Liquid Crystal Display projectors have been around for about 15 years or so and are extremely S L O W in terms of screen refresh. This is due to the electro-chemical procesws it uses to display the image. Much is true of the antiquated plasma displays also.

DLP or Digital Light Processing has been around for about 8 years or so and shows great promise for the future. Instead of shining a light THROUGH a panel of pixels that change color based on voltage, Hundreds of thousands of tiny prismatic mirrors are mounted on equally tiny stepper motors that rock the mirror back and forth to the respective facet of the mirror to display the requires color. This is much more effecient since the action is at the speed of light.

To every pro there is a con. With DLP projectors there tends to be less color saturation as with LCD. Flesh tones may not seem as rich. Most DLP projectors have a gamma adjust control that usually fixes the flesh tone issue.

Where DLP really shines is that eventually millions of those mirrors can be mounted on a surface to create a display that has virtually endless size. There is no need to backlight since the mirrors reflect ambient light. Some sort of polarizing glass or acrylic that will filter out "bad" light would have to be placed in front of the mirrors. Daytime viewing would be a reality.

Probably more info than you needed or wanted, but..
Neither. It depends on the user.

LCD has vibrant colors, but slow response time. Some people say the colors are oversaturated. Also, LCDs require cleaning and polarizers will need to be replaced in the long run.

DLP has deeper colors and faster response time. Some people will see the rainbow effect. Traditionally has longer life than LCD and requires no maintenance other than replacing lamps.
