HDMI doesn't always work ?
I am just wondering because i thought that HDMI was THE way to go and second would come component cable.
It's the vendor than told me that and says that i should go with good component cable over HDMI because there are a lot of standard out there and chances are that the HDTV and the cable receiver won't communicate always properly.
Has anyone heard of that ?
Answer:
yes this is true. Its very complicated but it deals with Intel and HDCP. I have heard of this problem but I have not known anyone with HDMI and a new HDTV having a problem. It may be more of a problem with "older" TVs and components like DVD player ect.
I have a sony receiver, PS3, Sony DLP, and a Sony DVD Changer all hooked up with seperate HDMI cables and have no problems.
Over all other options I preffer and would recomend HDMI
Yes, there are issues with the HDMI interface standards. Hitachi has some issues with the audio, for instance. Their recommendations are as follows: First power down EVERYTHING. then unplug EVERYTHING (from the ac outlet not all the signal plugs). Give it a few minutes to reset. While this is unplugged, check all your connections. After you have rechecked all the signal connections (HDMI) plug everything back into the power connections. Follow the exact order for powering everything back up. First power up your 8300HD box, then power the TV up, see if there is good audio/video. if so, follow this order every time you power up. If this does not help, you might need to contact the manufacturer of the equipment to see if they are aware of any software issues. If you must call them, have all your models and serial numbers handy. Just for my curiosity, I am wondering if you have a Hitachi set? They are the only ones I have received any service bulletins about.
