Cable companies are going to star a new thing where your cable tap is going to have an I.P. Address and if your cable box doesn't match that add its not going to work.
Digital cable cant be used in that way because the Set top Box they assign you has a MAC address that is programmed into their network that enables the bi-directional communication that actually engages the broadcast transmission to your box, so people cant boot leg cable services. As soon as you connect another digital box to the cable the network head end node will disconnect transmission and generate a network alarm in their Network Operations Center, Which since 2002 is now a crime!
Only Analog cable can be defeated with use of frequency filters, but many Cable companies use a digital link over analog services, so as soon as a STB is connected they know, its not like the old days!
