On my sky system,i have about 75% signal strength and about 35% signal quality.?
Answer:
Signal strength is totally unrelated to the QUALITY of the signal.
How often do I get a below threshold reading on signal strength, but full reading on signal quality.Lots of times is the answer. You need to get as high a reading on both as is possible, and without an alignment meter or the strength meter on the satellite dish, it can be a very long winded and frustrating job doing so. You can try to do it yourself, but call in a local satellite and aerial guy who may well charge you £30-00 but will do it properly and in no time at all.
You'll probably have to do BOTH.
It would be IDEAL to have the TV and the Dish right next to each other..can you bring out the Skybox, a small TV and a power cord to run them while making ONE ADJUSTMENT AT A TIME??
IF NOT..hire a specialist and let them peak your signal.
The SIGNAL STRENGTH is the most important as it affects the SIGNAL QUALITY..poor strength = poor quality.
You want to get as close to 100% signal strength as you can...and 75% is not very good.
Before moving the dish see that nothing such as tall trees are in the way.
When you're making adjustments have someone watching the signal strength meter all the time. Don't put yourself in front of the dish.
Before moving the dish check that the connectors on the cable downlead and Box are secure in their sockets and tight on the cable.
Sky claim that the system should work with signal strength down to 40%. If you don't have reception problems then don't tinker with it.
