Are you referring to splotched colors on your screen?
If this is what you are seeing the you TV needs to be degaussed
you do this by using a large electro magnet, or having the degaussing circuit fixed in the TV, normally the only thing that
goes wrong is a thermistor burns out so that there is no longer
a brief surge of magnetism when the set starts up, the thermistor heats up and shuts the current off to the coil around your picture tube.
If you can find someone (perhaps an old TV repairman) that would let you borrow his coil, all you need is to plug the coil
into the wall, there is an on off switch on the coil but don't
turn it on just yet, bring the coil up to the front of your TV screen, turn the coil on and rotate the coil in front of the set
in a circular motion while also slowly moving the coil further away. Once you get about 3 feet from the TV turn the coil to
the right and shut the power off.
You should now have a nice picture but may have to readjust
the adjustments that you made when trying to fix the problem.

First though if you switch the set off at the wall and wait 10mins before switching back on may fix the fault , you may have to do it a couple of times . If that fails then follow justgets advice !
