Coax cable Ground?
have digital cable and when the coax cable is hooked up to the cable box, a lot of picture noise is visible. On a black screen for example. you can see scan lines moving from the bottom to the top of the screen. Wold groundnthe coax cables help using the grounding wire? If so where do you hook it up? or any other suggestions to get rid of the noise?
Answer:
here's another tip you may have back feed from your home wiring if your cable is grounded from the cable company which it should be by law you may have amperage from your household electric system causing a hot ground the cable company will ground at the first point it splits usually in the basement to a cold water pipe or electric ground near fuse box unhook that ground temporarily see if it goes away if it does you have a wire reversed somewhere in your home wiring this can be found by using a amp clamp around the cable ground and turning off circuit breakers 1 at a time until the amperage disappears if seen this a 1000 times
You like watching "Black" pictures eh?
Well.let's isolate the problem.disconnect the cable, leave the cable box connected to the TV.
Lines still there? Y = Cable box or TV, N= Cable line
Next Take the cable box, use a set of video cables and connect the box to the TV with the video cables, set the TV to the Video Input you're connected to and see if you still get the lines.
Lines still there? N = TV Tuner or Cable modulator Y= Cable box/TV
Ok, turn off the cable box..
Lines still there? IF SO, then you need your power supply and video board Recapped..that'll be about $400...or more.
IF NOT...then you need to go back to where the LINES Disappeared.that would be the Cable Box or their Signal LINES
By the way, I see lines in the black part of the picture all the time.the REAL question should be.DOES it AFFECT YOUR PICTURE??
IF not...then WHY are you complaining??
Agree with Reggieman in isolating interference source.
Make sure you use good quality cables specifically for component video if your TV has the red, blue and green video inputs. If issue is at or upstream of cable box the cable company may be help.
