Are Vizio and Olevia TV sets as good as Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, etc?
Answer:
Go to www.cnet.com and see the reviews and comments on the competing brands. Vizio has done pretty well.
The same children build them all overseas so that they are inexpensive for us. They are all the same quality but it appears that Vizio is bringing the prices down further.
To answer your question as diplomaticly as I can, I have never known any one who has had either one of the first two you mentioned. The last three you listed, should go : SONY, > PANASONIC > SAMSUNG., in that order. All three are pretty good. The other two------------??
I cannot comment on the Vizio sets. We do sell the Olevia sets, and have done so for about 1 year. We have had ZERO problems, and ZERO complaints. I think that pretty much tells the story. I am still trying to figure out who makes them. I suspect a large subcontract OEM company like Benchmark Electronics, I just cannot prove it. I have looked at the UL numbers on the rear of the set, they do not match anything else we have, so I know it's NOT Hitachi, Sony, Audiovox, Orion, Toshiba,or RCA. We used to have access to the list of UL numbers to find out who built what, now UL is being fairly tight lipped about this information.
I do know their main US office is located in Tempe, AZ. But they are made overseas, either China, or Hong Kong. The mother company is Syntax-Brillion. That's about all I have been able to dig up on them to be certain.
